Are you trying to stop drinking? Do you think you have a drinking problem? What is Alcoholics Anonymous? We will try and answer some of this for you.
Trying to stop drinking?
Are you trying to stop drinking? We may be able to help. We have tried everything to stop drinking, just as you have. We have found the only way to stop drinking is when we work with other alcoholics.
Do you think you have a drinking problem?
If you repeatedly drink more than you intend or want to, if you get into trouble, or if you have memory lapses when you drink, you may be an alcoholic.
Only you can decide. No one in A.A. will tell you whether you are or are not.
If you are unsure, feel free to join us at a meeting, Contact Us, or check out the Is A.A. for Me? pamphlet.
What is Alcoholics Anonymous?
We in A.A. are men and women who have discovered, and admitted, that we cannot control alcohol. We have learned that we must live without it if we are to avoid disaster for ourselves and those
close to us.
With local groups in thousands of communities, we are part of an informal international fellowship, which now has members in more than 180 countries. We have but one primary purpose: to stay sober ourselves and to help others who may turn to us for help in achieving sobriety.
Where can I find a meeting?
There are a number of meetings every day. Love & Service has weekly meetings on Sunday (virtual and in-person) at 6:00 PM and Thursday (in-person only) at 7:00 PM at the Hope Center in Pleasant Hill, CA, located at 2275 Morello Ave, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523. You can also find more local meetings at Contra Costa AA. If you prefer online meetings, check out the Online Intergroup.
Alcoholics Anonymous also has the Meeting Guide app for Android and iOS.
If you need assistance in getting to a meeting, feel free to Contact Us and we will make arrangements to get you to a meeting.
